Visual Calculus estimates the parity of function y=f(x) by graphing y=f(x) and y=f(-x). If these two graphs are overlapped, then function y=f(x) is even; if these two graphs are symmetrical about y=0, then function y=f(x) is odd; or else the function is not even and not odd.
The following figure shows that function y=sin(x) is an odd function.
The following figure shows that function y=cos(x) is an even function.
The following figure shows that function y=sin(x)+cos(x) is neither an odd function nor an even function.
